Giving Back

My dd and I walked in the March of Dimes walk-a-thon yesterday morning. We started out at 9am and ended around 11:30. We had a great time walking with our team (Heaven's Hope). Took the jogger for sydnie to ride in just in case she got tired and it was a great, because a lot of the kids were able to ride in it. Took my ipod along, but ended up loaning it to a friend and the great thing about that was that when the hills came, he pushed the jogger for me. YAY! It is such an awesome event, I used to participate when I lived in Portland, before kids, and I am so glad to get involved again. I am so glad that sydnie and I were able to do this together, she was awesome and raised $65 all on her own. Super cool little girl, with lots of compassion and enthusiasm in serving others.

I'm back-finally

Holy Cow!!!! it has been forever since I have had a chance to sit down at my computer. Life has been crazy lately. You know those times when you wonder where the heck a week has gone. I have tried to spend time with the family lately and not be totally selfish with my time. Had a barbeque this weekend with my husbands family and had a great time. Took the kids to ice cream last night. Just trying to be a better mom and wife. To enjoy life and not get so caught up in how busy life could get. Loving the sunshine here in Oregon...got to enjoy it now, before the rain comes back. I cannot believe that school is almost out...that may is just around the corner. Anyway...till next time.

a few of my favorite things, right now

okay one more posting for today. i had to share a few of my favorite things right now. nothing better than walking to my new ipod mini. fabulous, love it, can't wait to actually wake up and use it for a power walk, jamming to green day. new coffee cup. i have a bit of obsession over starbucks coffee cups. they are truly one of my favorites. and when i get a new one, i use it over and over until i finally break down and pull out one of the old ones. and last but now least the beautiful sky (when it is sunny, which it is not right now, rainy) but when the sun is out and the clouds are spotted on the sky like little puffs of cotton candy, it is beautiful.

amazing generosity

I love this picture....it shows the caring and sharing spirit of about 60 kids (3-6th grade) involved in our Awana club at church. We started a toy drive in rememberance of a clubber who lost her battle with a brain tumor this winter. Not only did they bring toys, but boxes of kleenex for the Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland. I am so proud of the kids and their response. I am going to take a couple of kids with me as we deliver the items, it should be a truly rewarding and emotional time. Haley was such a compassionate and loveable soul. She organized her own toy drive at her school in response to her own treatments at the hospital. She truly touched so many lives and she is dearly missed. I know that Haley will have a huge smile on her face as she looks down here at us and sees the joy that she continues to share in this life. We miss you Haley!

The trouble with Trouble

So last night was the first night we have had together as a family without having anything to do, so we decided to play a game of Trouble. The kids love this game and Sydnie usually wins and Noah ends up leaving the table after a few rolls, because he is bored (and four). The first few rolls were great...Sydnie was out and ready to head around the board, but suddenly she is knocked out by little brother and the crying begins and does not stop. She is so upset she can barely roll the dice. Noah is loving the fact that she is so upset, but suddenly he is knocked out, starts crying and thad and I can barely hold in the laughter. Seriously funny. Eventually both kids knock daddy and mommy out, they both ended up having fun...even though they both got knocked out again and again. I cannot wait to bring out the next game...maybe the company should post on the boxes "crying may occur in all age of children(especially parents who are trying to hold back laughter) .

so psyched

My one guilty pleasure is this...I own all four seasons of Alias on dvd. I remember the first time I watched it...I thought this girl is doing these amazing things and it filled that void for action in tv land. of course 24 came on at the same time, which i love as well, but jack is jack. I am so excited for the new episodes to start airing!!! one more week. i have been on all the message boards and seen all the photos from the new shows!! Super excited. It is so silly how the simple things keep us going from day to day. I am rewatching season 4 in the break and cannot wait to buy the final season once it hits stores!!! even though these are the final episodes I still can sit down and watch them all over again. GO SYD

ahoy there me matey

This is my DS who is just an absolute joy to be around...you can see by the smile on his face that he thinks he is awfully cute. He is totally into star wars right now, but occasionally will pull out the pirate dress up and play with his playmobil pirates and castle. 4 year old boys can be so ingenious in there play, which usually involves a lot of noises and sword swinging. I cannot wait to scrapbook this picture. ahoy!!

Beautiful

Look at this amazing girl...I was able to spend a few days with Sydnie alone...her brother went to grandparents house while she was recovering from mono. She is so beautiful and just a breath of fresh air in my life. I had such a good time just reconnecting with her. Yesterday was just a beautiful day here in the northwest, so she decided to put on her new favorite dress and go outside. We enjoyed the sunshine, while we threw the ball to maddie(dog) and then suddenly we discovered a ladybug. Sydnie was so cute holding it on her finger and when she was done she bent over to put it on a blade of grass then turned to me and said " mom we have to go inside now, so we don't accidently crush the ladybug." How cute is that...my sensitive, caring girl.

10 Days

Did you know you could actually lose ten days without even knowing it? It is really true, my DD has been down with mono for 10 days, how does a 6 year old get mono? Who was she kissing? It is horrible to watch your child go through fevers of 105* for that long. Multiple trips to the doctors office where they tell you it is just a virus and then finally on the fourth visit in 8 days they tell you it is mono and the test they ran was not accurate on children!!! Many frustrations in this one, but in the end Sydnie is up and running this morning with lots of energy and no fever. So it is true you can lose 10 days, with the curtains drawn, watching movies, filling water cups, taking temperatures, pouring tylenol, not showering for days and being in the same clothes for 4 days. But to come out the back side is amazing, knowing that life is precious; Life is good.
